Event Summary:

Join us for an intimate discussion around how San Diego is moving toward 100% Renewable Energy.

Presented by San Diego Renewable Energy Society and Global Energy Network Institute

Event Detail:

In the Climate Action Plan, Council President Todd Gloria helped launch the pledge for San Diego City to be 100% renewable by 2035.  It's an achievable goal, but a long way from our current 8% generation.  There are many cities who have reached 100% clean energy already.  They have accomplished this in several ways and we can learn how they did it.

GENI & SDRES will host Councilman Gloria for an informal dialogue with members and guests about 100% sustainability in the region.  The evening will include an overview of San Diego's Climate Action plan, examining what other cities around the nation and globe are doing to achieve this goal,  and unveiling the new "100% Renewable San Diego" campaign landing page.

Todd Gloria

San Diego City Council President

Todd Gloria became the Interim Mayor of the City of San Diego on August 30, 2013. He was elected to his second term as Councilmember representing District Three on June 5, 2012. He served as Council President in 2013 and was re-elected Council President for 2014.  In Todd's first term as a Councilmember, he championed increased infrastructure investment, resulting in miles of smoother roads, subsequently coining the term "sexy streets." He also led the way for San Diego's first permanent year-round homeless service center, was a leading advocate for transportation options including a stronger public transit system and pedestrian and bicycle projects, and authored Proposition C, which updated the City's veterans hiring policy.

Todd is a graduate of the University of San Diego and a member of the Tlingit Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska. Todd is a native San Diegan, third generation resident of District Three, and a dedicated public servant. Having learned from his parents the importance of leaving things better than when you first found them, Todd enthusiastically and tirelessly works to ensure San Diego lives up to its name America's Finest City.
